My students need keyboards, stands, headphones, and power chords to bring music to life. I have the space to create a keyboard lab, and I have a few keyboards but not enough to make it worthwhile.

My students are very musical. They crave musical experiences with meaning, not just worksheets. They want to perform music not just learn about it. My students do not have resources to receive music lessons outside of school. If they do not learn it from me, they will never learn it!
My students are very excited each and every time they come to music.
They work hard but I do not have a good inventory of instruments like schools in the suburbs do. My students are a part of a school that belongs to a city school district. It is a high poverty district. We have been very blessed with a new building and a beautiful room that is craving some resources. My students love having the opportunity to come to class and participate in their learning. Unfortunately the district, school, and students do not have the resources to provide our students with the instruments needed to help them succeed. If we have instruments, they tend to be very old and are difficult to fix.
Learning the keyboard is essential to really understanding music. We now know how beneficial it is in the young brain and how children flourish in other academic areas because of the study of the piano. I have seen much success in my students who play piano. My students can not afford to pay for private piano lessons let alone have pianos or keyboards in their homes. I have worked in suburban schools with wonderful keyboard labs and the students there do not deserve it any more than my city students. By funding this project you are bringing piano lessons and the proper supplies to 490 students!
