My students are unique in every way imaginable! My students have Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), but this is only a small piece of who they are. They are intelligent and curious, working their way through our world which often seems complicated and overwhelming.
These children all crave learning and having friendships and relationships with their peers, but their communication and related needs can sometimes hinder this process.
A hallmark component of autism is difficulty with typical communication and social interactions. Many of my students are from military families and other diverse backgrounds.
My Project
My classroom is a unique and inviting space. Teaching multiple grade levels means my students and myself are all over the school at different times during the day, and our learning goes with us! I recently purchased six Amazon Fire 7 tablets so my students can learn on the go, independently, and in small groups in the classroom. But these tablets need protection! Cases are needed to make sure these devices last for school years to come! And headphones are needed to make sure students can work without disrupting others.
In 2018, technology should be a natural part of any classroom!
Technology helps to enhance learning, differentiate instruction, create opportunities for collaboration among peers, and much much more! Now that the technological resources in my classroom are growing - I need to make sure they will last! Tablet cases, headphones, and styluses will help my students make the most of our wonderful resources!
Working with students with autism, means my students all learn in a variety of ways. Technology helps to create equal access to the curriculum, learning environment, and social relations with peers. As a daily part of our instructional routine, students use the internet to access digital books, tablets to access adapted books, adapted learning materials, and instructional programs used throughout our district.
