Our students face many unique challenges. I teach science and I coach girl's basketball in a small rural town which services a military base. Our student population consists of middle school aged students with a parent or parents who serve actively in the military and students who live off of the base with a parent or parents who work in a small rural area to meet the needs of the family. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch daily.
Are you ready to have your faith restored in our young leaders of the future?
I coach 15 young ladies, ages 11- 13, many of whom are playing an organized sport for the first time. They are very respectful, driven, eager, and also display academic excellence on a daily basis. When I explained I would open the gym for practice for as long as they desired, they decided as a group they wanted extended practice time.
I greatly admire their pursuit of excellence. This is also evident in the classroom as the majority of these young ladies also maintain an above average grade point average. They are examples of aspiring leaders as they consistently lead by example on our campus.
My Project
"The most important thing in good leadership is truly caring." - Dean Smith. The middle school young ladies who make up our basketball team truly care about improving their discipline level and their leadership skills, but they require basic accessories such as reversible practice vests, dribble googles, water bottles and jump ropes.
Specifically, these much needed supplies will enable these aspiring leaders to scrimmage while wearing different colored vests, to train with jump ropes and to stay hydrated with the water bottles and carriers.
Additionally, the dribble goggles will enable them to learn dribbling skills. Please help our young ladies.
