My Students

If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. ~Toni Morrison So many times we read books and recreate the ending, beginning or parts in between. There is a writer inside everyone of us, the only thing we need is the courage to set it free.

Our school is in an urban community composed of many low income families.

Our children are encouraged everyday to read and express themselves through writing. They can only do that if they have books and materials to complete their tasks and keep them organized. Our financial resources sometimes do not go as far as we we require to reach all of our students' needs. There are many reasons for this like we need to order the essential materials or the budget is tight. These essential materials would be considered an extra bonus. Well, sometimes extra bonuses are needed to let the creative writing in us bloom and flourish. Why not give all children the opportunity to be creative and open up new windows of imagination. Writing is a big part of learning and these children sometimes do not even have something as simple as a pencil. Can you imagine what they can do with the extra added resources to help their minds grow? Your kind donations will empower our children's love of writing

My Project

These resources which I am requesting will help our children be able to continue to enjoy their new found love of reading and join it with writing. These resources can also teach them to be organized as well. Your donation will encourage them to want to write and also share what they write with others as well as take them home. The Reading & Writing Center will offer the children their personal area to keep their work. It also has an area for the children to store the books for them to read. They will have a personal book box so that they can store their leveled books. The take-home organizer will help them share what they have created at school with their family. The seat-storage sacks will help them keep all their supplies in one place for less worry about finding what they need. The Reference Partitions helps the children have something to refer to when they do not know how to spell something or understand a skill. The partitions offers assistance when working independently.

Encouragement can go a long way and that is what you will be doing by donating to this project.

Your donations will encourage our children to be free to open their creative self because they will not have to concern themselves with "I don't have this" and "I need that" issue, they will only worry about "What should I write about today?" Your generous donations will help our young writers develop their imagination, sense of adventure and more. You will empower their new found writing.
