My students are always encouraged to try new things, to transform their mistakes into art, and to explore with their creative minds. These young Oklahoma artists never cease to amaze me. They love to experience art from around the world and then to apply what they've learned to their own imaginative creations. They take ownership of learning experiences whenever they are given a chance.
They experiment in whatever materials and processes that they can get their hands on.
My students are always hungry for new opportunities.
My Project
Lions and tigers and bears...Oh my! This year I'd love to explore the wild world of art with my PreK through 4th grade artists. From neon tigers to anamorphic self-portraits to fluorescent Pop Art, my students will learn about art history, our natural world, and using their wild imaginations.
When teaching over 650 students, it can be difficult to acquire enough quality materials for an engaging art experience.
The fluorescent tempera paint and the multicultural skin tone sets would give my students a wonderful opportunity to explore new mediums and more accurately represent themselves in their artworks. These paints require less set-up and clean-up and give the artists more time and flexibility to paint from their imaginations.
As an elementary art teacher, it is important for me to teach proper material care and techniques and art history and theory. However, I believe my most important task is to instill a love of creation, discovery, and self-expression within the artists in my charge. The paint I am asking for will do just that. Just add a little water on a brush, and they can go wild!
