My students need a hands-on learning experience that teaches social studies, economics, and politics through classroom activities and a culminating field trip.
This project expired on April 29, 2016.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Every morning we start with our mission statement: "We are committed and we welcome challenge."
We are part of an urban district that has 36 different languages which we think is pretty cool!
We are proud to be diverse. Our school practices competency-based learning so our students get the opportunity to interact with many different students and teachers throughout the day. Therefore we feel like family.
The resources provided include hands-on classroom activities tied to our curriculum over the course of 2 months. Students run a make-believe town in the classroom. We elect officials and have jobs. The students then go to a culminating field trip event where they experience a larger version of our tiny classroom town. The materials that we are requesting are all provided by the Young Ameritowne organization.
Our students have families who love and care for them very much but many do not have the resources to provide an experience like this.
Our students will take away lifelong knowledge and memories from this experience.
