Young Adult Books Needed: Books for an Expanding School

My Students

Diverse, unique, and creative are just a few words to describe my students. They are a wonderful group of students ready to learn new topics and dive into hands-on learning. Currently, we are a K-5 elementary school. Next year, our school with start the process to become a K-8 school by adding a middle school. For many, school is their only source of new experiences, technology to enhance learning, and creative outlets for their imaginations.

Inquisitive and hard working, my students deserve the best learning environment to serve their needs.

Since my school is considered a Title 1 school, the majority of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. With that being said, many families cannot afford additional learning tools for home or the classroom. I strive to provide my students with a Media Center (library) that will take them into the future with high interest books, STEM activities and MakerSpaces.

My Project

These young adult books will be the beginning of a growing collection of books for our new middle school. Currently, my school is a traditional K-5 elementary school. Starting next year, we will begin the process of adding middle school grades to become a K-8 school.

Our library is in desperate need of these young adult books to serve the reading needs of our future middle school students.

Young adult books have higher reading levels and contain middle school content in the story. Our students deserve high interest books to encourage their reading and provide the best learning space available.
