We recently pooled our grade level money and purchased classroom projectors. We are very excited because this projector can display a computer screen onto the dry erase board. Well, here's the problem. We have to borrow a laptop when we want to connect to the projector.
These children attend a large city school.
We have 8 sections of first graders with 21 per class. They mostly come from low income homes with working parents. My students are excited about school every day they walk into the classroom. Having this laptop will give them resources they need to succeed in class. We can use the laptop as a whole group, small group, pairs or individual use. Students will be able to work on the laptop to reinforce reading and math skills were are working on in class. I will also be able to use this laptop to individualize the skills my students need help in. This HP laptop will make my students very happy!
My Project
First, my students will learn how to use the laptop. They will also benefit from the use our projector on a daily basis. It will just be a simple step to unplug the laptop from the projector to be able to use the laptop. Having the laptop in the classroom will facilitate activities during student workstations. Students will be able to work in groups on this laptop searching for information that we do not have in textbooks. For example we do not have Social Studies books so they will be able to look for information about their community, different cultures, famous Americans, industry in Tennessee and so on.
Your donation will help our class to get an HP laptop.
Students will have a better chance to reach their goals in school with a laptop. They will be introduced to technology at an early age which will be a life long skill using technology. You can and will make a difference in these first graders lives with your donations. Thank you so much!
