We have a diverse group of Pre-K students who are ready and excited to learn! With your support, they can grow, learn, and spread their excitement for education into their future academic career. Pre-K is a special place for children to learn how to get along with others while building self confidence and self esteem. They learn how to socialize with others, manage disagreements, and build key communication skills needed in the future.
We are curious and active learners who love to make new discoveries by exploring our surroundings.
It's hard for a four year old to sit and listen for long periods of time. That's why we learn through play! Our classroom materials are essential to our learning process. The materials we play with allow us to role play, reenact what we have learned, illustrate, create, build, rebuild, count, and manipulate water/sand flow. Sometimes we don't understand the purpose of an object so we play around and test our theories. Sometimes we'll think some more and try out a new ways to use our materials. We make observations and discuss what we notice. Through our discussions, we draw conclusions that help us to make sense of the world.
My Project
Do you remember the first book you read that made you an avid reader? First impressions are very important. I want to create a great first impression of books for my students so they are able to appreciate and love quality books with the ultimate goal of turning them into lifelong readers.
I love books and my students are starting to love them as well.
I want to keep their interest in literature by exposing them to more books by established authors as well as authors that are breaking through the literature industry. Our kids love our library. They go to favorites they always want to look at and want me to read.
The books I am requesting will allow them to venture out and explore other genres and authors who write and illustrate fantastic books. These are quality books I wish to expose to my students to and will help them develop a love for reading. I truly believe children who read will grow up to be thinkers. My kids love our library because of the Mo Willem's books we have. There are other quality books they enjoy as well. I want to keep things up to date in our library so my students will always have a reason to check out the library.
Many of my students don't have the opportunity to visit the public library since their parents are working late shifts and they're usually in after school or with their grandparents. Having books available in our classroom library will help develop and foster their love for reading. Books will also allow students to learn life lessons, and other literacy skills--not to mention my students enjoy reading them! The books would greatly promote literacy in my classroom!
