This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have a lot of sensory needs. They enjoy everything from fine and gross motor stimulation to auditory stimulation. But what they all seem to light more than anything, is LED lighting. Our classrooms are designed with fluorescent lighting. Research shows that many people, (especially those on the Autism spectrum), function better overall in environments with natural or reduced lighting.

The LED lighting fixtures on this wish-list will help create a de-stimulated environment in which our students can learn more effectively.

The idea is to provide enough lighting to make up for turning off our bright, noisy fluorescent lights and still allow us and our students to see and complete our work tasks throughout the day.
