Help me give my students the ability work in groups to improve their writing skills. Being able to collaborate and work in a structured area, at the kidney table, on a skill like writing helps immensely.

My Students
Our middle school students are one of a kind! They are a part of a small rural school district that strives to achieve on all levels. Like most rural communities in our state, we too have been affected by the lingering economic situation.
Our school has a very high rate of students participating in the free and reduced price lunch program.
Lots of families have lost their jobs due to scaling back. Resources at our school have also been cut drastically because of declining enrollment when families look for employment in surrounding communities.
These students are eager to learn and deserve the best. I want our students to be lifelong learners!
My Project
Students will know that when they get to the kidney table it is time to get to work on their writing skills. I can meet with a group of students all at one time who are struggling with a skill rather than six or seven individual meetings and conversations.
Having a kidney table like this would make it that much easier to form stations for working on writing and the skills associated with it.
When students practice the same skill set in the same area, they know what to expect and they can shift their focus to that skill, even without realizing that they have done it!
