This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a classroom of 20 students. My students are very lovable and active. They come from a diverse household and are eager to learn and explore. My students live in Texas, and are from the ages of 3 to 5. I have a mixture of Hispanic, African American, Asian and Caucasian children. My students are exposed to many negative elements in their neighborhoods, so it's important that they are exposed to as many positive elements in our classroom as possible.
My Project
In my classroom, my students create many art projects, finger paintings and writing samples that they want to take home to show their parents and family. In the past we would place our finished art work in our cubbies but they would get damaged or torn from their jackets and blankets. My children would be so sad to see their creations destroyed! We made individual mailboxes from cardboard but over time they broke down. I would love to have a shelf-life mailbox that is sturdy; that can keep all art work that is visible to parents as they are picking up their children at the end of the day.
