I teach music at a Title I school in suburban South Carolina. The students make up forty-seven classes in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, including special ed, regular ed, and gifted students. Many of these students come from low-income families and they rely on teachers or the school for their materials. All of my students love new experiences. They are always eager to get involved in learning.
Our mascot is the “Busy Bee” and we certainly stay busy trying to make every moment count in music class!
My Project
I would love to continue incorporating the creativeness of building with LEGO bricks into our music classroom! As educators, we are constantly striving to motivate our students. What motivates students more than “playing” with LEGO bricks? I can imagine my students creating music notes, showing the concepts of high/low, and composing rhythm with these building bricks.
My students were so excited to receive LEGO bricks, base plates, and storage containers from our previous projects, and they are hungry for more!
They are thrilled with the idea of using LEGO materials to learn in the music room.
This project is requesting additional LEGO bricks, mounting tape to secure our LEGO wall, and a few more storage containers to keep our bricks all in one easy to access place.
Thank you for supporting music and the fine arts in public education. These materials will be used with hundreds of students each year. You really do make a difference in the lives of my students!
