Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The more our kids read, the more books our school library needs. Please look at some of our most popular books. Goosebumps is a firm favorite with our 3rd through 5th graders, and we would really, really appreciate some new copies.
These books are for the school library at a K-8 Center.
The school caters to around 900 children. The kids live in South Florida. Most (over 84%) qualify for free or reduced lunch, because their families are experiencing considerable economic hardship. The majority of our children are first generation Americans. Their moms and dads tend to be immigrants from Central and South America and the Caribbean. They work in the South Florida tourism industry. One very important point: our parents don't usually take their kids to the public library. That makes our school library super important to these kids' educations.
My Project
Goosebumps is a phenomenon in the world of children's publishing. The series has sold over 350 million copies worldwide. Kids love Goosebumps. At our school, the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders in particular can't get enough of this series with spooks, monsters and creepy crawlies. But our Goosebumps titles are very much the worse for wear. Please help us to get new copies of these incredibly popular titles. We'd like books with tough, special library binding. We's like books that will last.
Why should you support this project?
It will provide books to hundreds of needy kids for several years. We already know that these books will be used a great deal: Goosebumps flies off the shelves. Won't you please help to maintain our kids' enthusiasm for reading?
