Mrs. Tully from Chicago IL is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a class set of the book, The Hope Chest, by Karen Schwabach.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are 4th graders who love reading! They come to class enthusiastic about reading and curious about ALL subject matters, no matter if it's fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or plays. They have various different backgrounds, but they all share two things in common: 1) the love reading, and 2) I believe in them. My students come from a neighborhood that the city has not supported, but they know and understand the importance of education and their own community.
My students are lovers of reading who want to learn everything that they can through reading.
They love voicing their opinions on why they like their books, as well as why they dislike something they have read. Many of them want to improve their reading abilities, as well as having access to information is paramount for them.
I am requesting a class set of the book The Hope Chest. These materials will improve my students' learning because they will all be able to read our class novel independently. Each student will be able to take a book home to read the chapters for homework, and they will all be able to have their own books during class time as well. This will allow each of them to explore the book independently, use the text without having to look for a book, and be able to learn to use text details to analyze the text.
Every student wants to have their own book while reading during class.
With this project, my students will have that opportunity, which they will greatly appreciate. This will help them continue to become lifetime lovers of reading and learning.
