My Students
Our elementary school is "home" to almost 600 kiddos. Our school is pretty unique as we have a very diverse group of students in a rural community. We have many students that can speak more than one language and some students that are new to the country. More than 65% of our students receive a free and reduced-price lunch.
The students in my classroom come from all over the world. I am fortunate enough to have so many different smiling faces in my classroom.
My Project
My students come from all different backgrounds. But all my students would tell you their favorite part of the day is art (aside from lunch and recess). These kids may struggle with social emotional skills, math, reading or writing but they are all confident in their art skills. Why? Because there is no wrong way of doing art. It’s a great way for them to express themselves at their level of ability. These art supplies will allow them to continue to build confidence in their art skills all year long. The construction paper will be used throughout the year for a variety of projects. The clay will be used when my students create their own island that has land features. The liquid watercolor is a fun alternative for painting projects and will be used for learning primary and secondary colors.
