This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach seventh-grade science in a rural school. Our community is very diverse with many cultures represented. Over 80% of our children qualify and receive free or reduced-priced lunch, which means many of our children live in poverty.
We are also experiencing a growing number of families that are homeless.
Even though our children come from many disadvantaged homes, they come to school happy and so excited to learn. They know that they will leave with new knowledge every day.
My Project
I am teaching seventh-grade science this year and we will be conducting lab experiments that will be very messy. The rubber lab aprons will protect the students clothing from chemicals that they may be using.
The rubber lab aprons will be the perfect lab accessory for our science class.
Students will be more willing to engage in the activity if they know that their clothing will be protected. Especially middle school students.
I believe that students learn best when they can interact with the content they are learning about. And what better way than to conduct hands-on experiments.
