This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Anyone who does anything to help a child is a hero to me."
-Fred Rodgers
I teach a group of vibrant and eager Kindergartners who are looking at me to make learning memorable. These students are often plagued with the negativity of their environment. They have to overcome poverty, behavior issues, being independent in their homes, and still come to school to learn, follow rules, and build positive relationships. I am their first experience to education, and I would like to leave a positive impression of the school and a life-long love of learning.
My Project
We are a Title I school that's trying to improve reading scores in a failing area of Charlotte. I would like to bring learning to life using the QR reader app for sight word activities and videos for children to record themselves reading. Our school has invested in the Razkids and Education Galaxy program but lack reliable technology. I would like to utilize the programs for our students to use while they're in centers and during intervention times.
We know how young children are with tablets, you can't pry them out of their hands.
They are easy for them to navigate the programs independently, which allows me to effectively teach small group without interruption. Many of our children lack access to technology at home. I would like to give them an opportunity to use technology to strengthen their fluency in reading and comprehension of non-fiction text (science).
