My Students

My second grade students are voracious readers that devour any book that is put in front of them. Each of them have their own unique passion for reading, whether it is for the newest book in a series or a nonfiction book centered around their favorite topic.

They were buzzing with excitement at the school book fair, eager to look at all the new books that were offered, jotting down book titles on their wish lists excitedly.

Unfortunately many of my students can't afford to buy from the book fair, so they rely heavily on what I have readily available within my classroom for them to enjoy. They are passionate readers who can't wait to check out the newest book in their favorite series, or begin reading a classic tale.

My Project

These books will help my students stay inspired and passionate about reading! The Diary of a Wimpy Kid collection and Dragonbreath collection are classroom favorites, but I have not been able to buy the whole set for the class yet. Some of my students do not have access to many books outside of school, and depend on what I provide for them within my classroom to provide intellectual reading experiences to prepare them for later grades.

These books will inspire students year after year to travel outside themselves and into the world of reading.

They will grow as learners and set goals to read longer, more challenging novels. I hope to provide enough exciting reading opportunities to inspire each child to pick up a book and delve into the story.
