You Can Do the Rubik's Cube; Engaging Students in STEAM
My students need 30 Rubik's Cubes in order to successfully realize the STEM lesson potential at our school.
The students where I teach are smart, capable, lovable, and teachable. They deserve opportunities for rich STEM lessons just like every child. For the past two years I have run a Rubik's Cube club after school for students in grades 3-5. In the 2 years I have taught over 80 students! This is too many to be effective!! I am only allowed to borrow the cubes for 6 weeks. If I had my own set of cubes, I would be able to stagger multiple clubs throughout the year to meet the needs of all my students.
The Rubik's Cube is a highly engaging and motivational "toy" for students of all ages. But it is much more than just a toy! I am in need of 30 Speed Cube Sets, including 2x2x2, 3x3x, and Pyramid Cubes.
Used in the right way, the Rubik's Cube is a wonderfully effective tool to deliver high quality STEM lessons.
There is a website that provides multiple engaging lessons written by teachers that have been classrooms tested. These lessons are regularly reviewed and expanded. I would use these lessons in multiple after school clubs. All we need are the cubes and the sky is the limit!
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
