My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My students are brilliant and highly motivated to learn math in a fun and engaging way!
Many do not enjoy math unless it is presented in a way they can connect with the content. That is why this year I have decided to focus on fun and engaging ways to bring joy to the classroom. With technology being so prevalent in today's youth every students uses an iPad in class. They serve as a great way to engage my students everyday! My students are 89% Hispanic. With using the iPad it allows EVERY student to be apart of the lesson. The work we do in this classroom is more then math but is about building the confidence as a student because they are able to see their ideas live on the screen. We celebrate with showcasing our work to our family and friends!
In 7th grade some standards require students have a proper four function calculator. We need a class set of calculators so that students are able to increase their FSA scores.
To differentiate learning I will implement a rotational model where students will be grouped by their math levels.
This will mean each student will be able to get the help they need in areas they are weak in. Headphones are needed so each student can work on their Imagine Math Lessons and hear what is being taught. Especially for those whose first language is Spanish where they will need to hear it.
My classroom is one-to-one so every student has a ipad they bring to class. We use our iPads as a white board using the notes section as well as programs that engage students with math. A stylus will allow them to show their work in a way that can be read and projected to the smart board. Tape will allow my students to continue to create their interactive math notebooks! Sometimes tape will be needed for the activities that need to be help down better then glue can. Many do not enjoy math unless it is presented in a way they can connect with the content. That is why this year I have stepped my game up and use technology as a supplement to the lesson!
