The students are the reason I teach. I teach a group of amazingly bright, self-motivated, knowledge thirsty children. They are always excited for a new day. Teaching them makes the day fly by, at 3:00 we always can't believe the day is over.
As gifted children, they are easily bored with mundane tasks and searching for new ways to showcase their knowledge and apply critical thinking skills.
I love challenging them and seeing how much they grow in just one school year. I also relish the opportunity to work with multiple grades so that I can watch students grow throughout their educational career.
As a teacher of gifted students, I am often faced with the question of What Now?! Students who master concepts easily and with above average accuracy do not want to be presented with more meaningless work. They need authentic learning to keep them engaged and focused. For this reason, I began teaching coding to my students last school year. We used Code.org and scratch to create our own games and learn how to code using blocks. It was a great start, but kids LOVE to explore with hands-on objects. So with these bots, Coding will come to life for my students!
