My Students

As we transition to a digital world and Covid-19 distanced classrooms, my students still are hungry for knowledge. They are excited to explore the world in either a digital or physical environment.

These students are impacted greatly by the economic challenges facing our country.

They are grateful for resources they receive from school. They receive breakfast, lunch, and snack daily at school. The school provides additional food for them to take home over the weekend. They have few resources available outside of what is provided.

My Project

Music is a universal language that can lift spirits and bring joy even when things are uncertain in the world today. Providing ukeleles and music instruction to these students will give them an opportunity to learn musical concepts, ideas, rhythm, and melody. Students will have the ability to explore musical expression, express their own feelings and emotions, and provide feedback.

The benefits of music carry over into other areas of curriculum.

Music activates other parts of the brain. It allows students to process emotions while also improving reading and mathematic processing.
