My students truly are special in several different ways. The main reason they are special is that they give their best effort despite great hardships. The majority of students are from lower income homes and typically have several siblings. This may not seem like a big deal, but it is easy for their needs not to be met. The difference I can make for them is in the classroom and with reading high-quality novels.
This neighborhood is very close and compartmentalized.
The majority of my students have been together since Kindergarten. My students are like my children and I want them to have successful and fruitful lives both in the classroom and life.
My Project
I read Wonder last year and it was an amazing experience for myself. I want my students to experience that same feeling that I did. I believe that my students will take the theme of this book and apply it to their everyday lives. This book teaches students to accept each other no matter what. That is tough for many students because it is easy to judge someone based on his or her appearance. My hope is that my students will read this book and have a better understanding of how to always show kindness to every person.
This book will make my students more proficient readers.
My students will be doing character analysis, comprehension questions, journal entries, and several other projects on this book. I love to read and I know my students will love this book.
