This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I School in North Carolina and many of my students are at-risk of academic failure. This is many of my students' first time in a school setting. The early learners in my class are more interested in the process of discovering and manipulating materials than the final products of their experiments.
Learning experiences are meaningful and relevant for every child and reflect his or her developmental, cultural, and individual circumstances.
My students love to move and be active. However, because of recent budget cuts, we are unable to purchase additional resources such as the ones requested.
My Project
My students love running, jumping, bowling, throwing, catching, and racing while learning. I want to teach my students about the importance of physical activity and fitness every day even when they have to stay inside. Fitness and flexibility is a very important aspect in health and sport that gets overlooked. It is the goal for the students to learn that stretching is as important as playing sports. There is a Sport Yoga DVD which will engages the children in yoga poses set to their favorite sports. The complete yoga set will also give us resources to insure we have age-appropriate fitness. The yoga CD and yoga cards will ensure variety while learn new techniques.
