Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and loving three and four-year-olds. The majority live within walking distance from the school, making the classroom an extension of the community.
At such a young age, my students are dealing with big emotions and beginning to learn how to manage them.
Some have even experienced some form of trauma. To effectively model to students how to cope with their emotions, I use breathing techniques and yoga.
My students love yoga and are always eager to learn new poses and breathing techniques. In the past I have taught these skills with limited resources.
My Project
I am a certified children's Yoga teacher and have taught Yoga to my students in previous years as classroom transitions. This year, I have the unique opportunity to teach a Yoga class to a group of students before the beginning of the school day.
Beginning the school day with a Yoga class will help students start the day calm and energized!
The materials in this project will provide the necessary resources for my students to thrive during Yoga class.
The Yoga books and cards will help students have a visual representation of poses and breathing techniques while also incorporating literacy skills.
