My Students

The students at my school are a very diverse group and come from all different walks of life. Many students love learning new things. This year we started learning different mindfulness practices to help us grow and be strong internally. Mats seen in the photo are on loan to us because many students are not able to bring their own yoga mats for this activity.

My Project

This project has started for face-to-face learners but can be adapted for online learners. Since Wednesdays are early release days, students will be part of an extended mindfulness session.

In this session, we will learn to breathe calmly, and learn exercises to help us relieve some stress and anxiety.

My hope is that these exercises will help students learn more: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision making to live happier and healthier lives.

There has been some great feedback from parents, students, & administration about this new activity. We have been fortunate enough to have a local yoga studio loan us so old yoga mat until they need them back.
