Yoga for Busy Young Minds

My students need yoga blocks and straps to support and extend their practice. These props will allow students to safely practice a variety of postures without compromising their breath, muscles, or joints.

My Students

My students come from a variety of school districts and are here to explore technical trades as well as expand their academic abilities. If I could describe my students in one word, it would be “diverse.” One thing they have in common is that they are all bright, witty, and genuine teenagers. It is truly amazing to see the engagement and excitement they have when they are working hands-on in the bustling environments of their shops. That being said, sometimes it is difficult for them to remain clear, calm, and focused as they transition between academics and trades. That's why I created the Yoga Club.

Teaching students to connect with their inner-selves through yoga and meditation helps them to create balance and peace in their hectic academic, social, and family lives.

This is a skill that they can use in every aspect of their lives, during and beyond the high school years.

My Project

I am asking for yoga blocks and straps to support my students and allow them to extend their practice in our school's yoga club. The use of these props will allow students to truly understand the posture, muscle use, and breath necessary for poses without compromising safety.

Using props to overcome challenges during yoga is symbolic on and off the mat.

I encourage my students to strive for growth without overextending themselves, and to use the support and resources available to them as they encounter obstacles in their own lives.

Developing mind-body awareness through yoga enables my students to find balance and nurture their own well-being; skills that leave the mat and promote success in every aspect of their lives.
