Help me give my students a healthy option for relieving stress and anxiety in their busy lives. Quality yoga mats and cushions will provide students with the opportunity to practice yoga during and after school.
My students are a complete pleasure to be around every single day. They are my Why as a school counselor. They are from diverse backgrounds with a rich history of culture and community. They are learning who they are and how they are the same and different from their peers.
This year Feelings of Anger and Dealing with Grief and Sadness were selected by over 50% of our 705 students.
We want to support our students with several whole school initiatives to recognize these feelings and cope with them in healthy ways.
My Project
Yoga and mindfulness are known to help children manage their anxiety, improve emotional regulation, enhance concentration and memory, and boost self-esteem. A recent survey revealed that more than 50% of our students have experienced significant issues with Anger, Grief, and Sadness. In order to practice, students need mindfulness cushions and high quality yoga mats. Water bottles and healthy snacks will compliment the students practice. As students find healthier ways to cope when they are young, these practices will become life-long habits as they grow into adulthood. Our school is devoted to the whole child. These materials will support our mission to empower all students to learn and grow.
