Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. It is my responsibility that they receive a high quality education, that is both meaningful and memorable.
Working in such a diverse population does present some challenges, but watching my students grow and develop over the course of the school year is so rewarding!
All my students want is a place where they can feel safe, express their creativity and learn. This is implemented
My Project
What child doesn't like to dress up like their favorite character or pretend to be a firefighter, a doctor, or a police officer? Our dramatic play center has visible wear and tear after years of fun and love. Dramatic play can be defined as a type of play where children accept and assign roles, and then act them out. It is a time when they break through the walls of reality, pretend to be someone or something different from themselves, and dramatize situations and actions to go along with the roles they have chosen to play. When children do role plays, they naturally become someone or something else. Role play stimulates their imagination and “enhances their social development, encourages friendship through cooperation, listening and turn taking”. Therefore, role play is a really vital activity for our children.
