This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Good Afternoon,
I am an ESS (Special Education) Educator in South Louisiana.
My students come from working families’ backgrounds, lower-income level, and several lack support at home with homework or other academic projects because their parents work. My students are hardworking and diligent. Many times I observe their frustrations when they are unable to perform academically on grade level.
Does zip code really matter? Indeed, while my students’
parents are involved and supportive most lack the skills
to assist their third graders. Reaching one and helping
many is my goal with the project I would like to implement
for my students while in school and at home.
I look forward to receiving assistance so that I can reach beyond the classroom.
My Project
The opportunity to have individual leveled reading materials for students will afford me time to work one-on-one with other students. It provides the opportunity for my students to read along, see the words, and hear the words, using three of their senses.
My students will be able to have a selection of books to choose from and empower them with the choice of books at a level which will increase confidence.
Having audio books that I can allow my students check out to bring home and read with their parents will increase parental support and guidance on things to read.
