My Students
My students are middle schoolers at a k-8 school in Redwood City. They are creative, hard-working and come from all walks of life. They love learning and their enthusiasm for education is inspiring to see. Since my students are becoming teenagers, it is really exciting to see how they embrace their individuality, but also how they are fearless in the face of adversity. They want to stand up for what they believe in, they want to have their voices heard against racism, sexism and prejudice and they want to make a difference. Please help them recognize the power they have to lead this next generation!
My Project
In middle school, language arts and social studies group work is key.
Students need to be able to collaborate and brainstorm together, whether it’s to write down ideas for conflicts in a narrative or to list Ancient Egyptian inventions.
Our new marker board table will make practicing and working together more fun. Students will want to participate and work together to get their ideas down. Something that may not have been exciting like editing writing for errors or summarizing the main ideas in an article, now becomes enjoyable and almost like a game! Students who were reluctant to participate will want to be part of the group’s work. Being able to write on the table makes it easy to make lists, give quick feedback, work collaboratively, and enjoy learning. Please support my innovative middle schoolers as they learn to work as a team!
