This is my third year of teaching kind, inspirational, energetic, and hardworking fourth graders. Our hobbies this week include: octopus tag, brain breaks, multiplication bingo, science labs, and poetry. I have truly enjoyed every moment and know that I am living a life lead by my passion for education.
My students have a natural passion for learning and that is what drives me to do my best each day.
Although it is early on in the school year, so far they have been outstanding scientists, explorers, authors ,historians, mathematicians, geologists, writers, and so much more. It is so important to me to bring real life experiences into the classroom and my students are just as excited! My hope is that my students become active citizens in our world.
My Project
While obtaining my Masters in Education, I wrote an action research thesis on yoga in the classroom. I found that yoga results varied in positive ways. Some students explained that it was relaxing, while others felt that it gave them energy. A few students even said that it helped them maintain focus on lessons throughout the day. Although I have taught for three years since then, my results and passion for yoga haven't faded away. My class and I start off with a yoga pose and it sets a positive tone. I desire to take my understanding of the yoga practice to another level to better benefit my school community.
Through the Breathe For Change training, I will be able to help my busy-bee students be confident, calm, energetic, and focused in everyday life.
This training course is unique because it gives 200-hour wellness and yoga training specifically for teachers. After taking part in it, I will be certified a certified yoga instructor and I will be qualified to lead wellness classes.
It is a national movement that I would love to be apart of. Yoga allows students to pause from their worries and focus on being mindful on themselves. I think this is a rare action that should be more enforced. The practice gives us a chance to connect our minds and bodies. I understand that school is stressful and I want to give students a healthy way of coping with it. Your support will help my student body and I "breathe" each day and "change" our lives.
