Help me give my students something to help them to focus, so that they can be more successful and feel like they can sit through a lesson like their peers.
My students are some of the most inspiring people that I have ever met. Many of them face challenges that we as adults have never, and will never face in our lifetime. Each day when I see my students, I greet them with a smile and a hug, and they are so happy to have someone that really looks forward to seeing them, and I look forward to seeing them as well.
Many of my students are struggling readers.
Although we have some amazing resources in my district for reading, some are still unable to reach grade level standards. There are so many resources that can be utilized on the internet (ex: reading apps, math apps, writing apps, and so many more), but most of my students do not have computers or tablets at home for them to use.
Many of my students struggle to stay on task. ADD, A.D.H.D, Autism Spectrum Disorder really makes it difficult for the individual to focus on tasks. Any helpful tools that I can get to accommodate my students to help them focus is a gift me them and for me!
My Project
The materials that I would like to get for my students will allow them to release excess energy while continuing to focus on the lesson being taught. Imagine drinking 2 pots of coffee and sitting in a seminar for 6 hours, the only rule is you can't fidget! Good luck! This is a feat that my students try to tackle everyday. The chair bands allow them to use their leg strength to move the band in a quiet and non-distracting way, thus releasing any pent up energy that might hinder them from sitting and focusing. The stretchy, bendy fidgets, allow them to fidget under their desks while continuing to focus on the lesson being taught. The stress balls will help them to release pent up stress and anxiety from testing.
