Help me give my students the foundation instrument for Orff based lessons. As part of CORE standards based instruction, students can use xylophones to perform, accompany and compose.

My Students

The students in this school are on the lower income level. They are often living in shelters or temporary housing. Some are there year after year, but others come and go due to life circumstances. School seems to be a stabilizing force in their lives. They are also a very sweet group of children, and each year they get better and better. When they come to music class they are eager to learn and to try every new experience.

They get to try things that they don't see other places.

When it comes to concerts and performances they are truly excited and proud.

My Project

This school is the only one in our district without any Orff Instruments. These instruments come in various sizes and have either wood or metal bars. They are pitched in the singing range of children. They can easily combine with recorders, ukuleles, boomwhackers, and other Instruments to form an ensemble.

I would love to be able to build an Orff Instrumentatium and be able to have students engage in composing music and accompany singing and recorder activities, in class and in concerts.

We have started a program to study jazz , and another to begin composition activities. This instrument could easily be used in centers
