This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Last year I started an after-school gaming club with my middle school students. We have been using 2 Xbox One consoles that were purchased several years ago. This year I have introduced esports, and competitive gaming. We have created a team-based competition between the students as they are creating their own school-based league.

Very few of my students have been able to play on a current gen console (Xbox Series X/S or PS5), and even fewer own one.

We also have students that don't own any consoles as well, so they are only able to game here at school. Our older consoles run well, but lack the processing speeds and enhancements of the next gen Xbox Series S, and are just overall slower. I would love to give my students the opportunity to play a console with higher frame rates and detailed graphics. This would also give us the ability to have 4 more players competing at a time by adding a console.
