My students need Writing Folders, Thesauruses, the Writing Common Core Standards Learning Centers, Research and Report Writing Center, and the Magnetic Writing Charts.
I often hear, "I don't like writing. It's too hard!" I can get my third graders to read, but writing is a struggle for them at this age. All of these items on my list would encourage and assist my students with their writing.
I teach in a lower income area in Florida.
Many of my students are on Free and Reduced lunch. Our K-5 school also hosts Pre-K and two Autistic units. They want to learn and they long to be loved. I can do the loving, but I need the materials to help them learn to their greatest potential!
My Project
I plan on setting up a writing corner with all these supplies included. They will be learning how to use a Thesaurus to make their writing more interesting. The Research Center will provide many opportunities for individual projects, which then can be shared with the class. Their folders will keep their writing organized.
My job as a third grade teacher is to prepare them for fourth grade.
They have to take the Writing FCAT in the fourth grade. These items and the center I set up will really help them prepare for fourth grade.
