Our school is a Title 1 school where many of the students are living below the poverty line, are English Language Learners, and are FARM (free or reduced price meal) students. In my classroom, I have the most amazing students. I love seeing how excited they are to come to school and learn. My students learn through exploration and play. I need more classroom resources to make sure my students are getting the best experience. Pre-K is the first school experience for my kids so we work hard to create a warm, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable to learn. My Project
There are many activities I would like to do with these writing supplies. During my whole group instruction and small groups, I would like for each student to have their own dry erase board, marker, and eraser so they can practice writing letters, numbers, and shapes! This way I can complete observation assessments based on students answers on the boards.
Practice, practice, practice!
I would use the clipboards as the first step to starting flexible seating in my classroom. Students can get a clipboard when working on a writing activity and find a spot (comfy chair, floor) that works best for them to work.
My students also need pencil grips to help them feel more comfortable with writing and learn how to hold a pencil or marker correctly.
Lastly, to get my students to figure out pencil pressure, I would like to use card stock paper to help them write on the carpet. If they're pencil goes through the card stock paper, then they know they are pressing too hard.
I believe that all of this will help prepare my students for Kindergarten!
