All my students enjoy writing. They love looking at their finished project and beam with excitement that they have created such an amazing writing piece. My students spend about three weeks brainstorming, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing a story.
Many of my first grade students are starting to learn how to organize the things in their life.
This includes, organizing their table spot, work time, crayon box, book box, writing box, math box, and home-to-school folder. More often than not, most of my students would turn in a folded or ripped home-to-school folder or not bring one at all. They are still young and still learning how to preserve their school materials.
My Project
I want to help my students preserve their completed writing projects by printing these final writing piece on cardstock paper and laminating them. My first grade students spend a lot of time working on one piece of writing. It takes about three weeks to finish a story! A lot of hard work and tears go into these writing projects and the students know it too. The students become better at writing each time they write because they know that their final piece will sound and look amazing. Laminating these piece of writing will be the last step to add that final touch to make it look officially published.
Many of my students love to make something and keep it for his or herself.
It is usually hard to keep these things safe at home because they have younger siblings. This project will help each student treasure their writing because it will be safe from their little sister or little brother's fingers. This project will help motivate my students to write even more because they can keep it forever, like a treasure.
