This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My children have a high interest in learning. Students come from high poverty neighborhoods, which results in a large percentage of free or reduced-price lunch recipients. My children are beginning to learn how to become life-long learners.
My students need materials so they are able to complete learning at home with their teacher.
This is their first year of school. They are starting their school journeys. As their teacher, I strive to give them as many new learning opportunities as possible in their first year of school. I teach them to be independent and responsible students. Since this year has been virtual from the beginning, it has been more difficult to make sure that my students have the materials that they need to be successful.
My Project
My students are learning to print their letters and numbers. They are starting to learn how to print words as well. I would like them to have the tools to be able practice printing their names on dry erase boards so that it will be easier for them to hold them up and show their teacher.
My students need tools to practice writing at home.
I would like them to have markers and erasers to use with their dry erase boards.
Some of my students have others in their home trying to navigate at home learning as well as parents working from home. Sometimes it is difficult to focus on my classroom when other people are talking and working. The headphones would help keep my students focused on their own learning.
