Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Music is alive at in the Bronx! We hold 4 major concerts each school year which is available to every student in the school, we have a year-round chorus and 5th-grade band program available to our upper-grade students, and every student attends music class at least once a week to participate in singing, dancing, and games!
We have been writing notes and rhythms more than ever this year, but we need new writing supplies.
Please support music in our school and help us compose the songs in our hearts. Each week, students are doing worksheets and other writing prompts, as well as singing, dancing, and playing instruments. Because every student comes to music class, our supplies suffer heavy traffic and need replacing over time. This project will allow us to refresh our supplies and organize the written work we do in class. Although creative minds are often a bit disorganized by nature, our music classroom does not have to be.
My Project
Our students deserve consistent writing supplies, and our music classroom sees every student in the entire school. Our supplies go through heavy traffic, so it is important to have a large stock. On top of the need to stock supplies, there is a need for organizing these materials and the work that we do, so I have included some things to help keep our paper in order.
Our musicians are continuously learning and growing, so let’s keep our pencils as sharp as our children.
They have been working on writing rhythms, writing lyrics to songs, and reflecting on the performing that we do. New pencils and organizing materials will allow us to keep up our momentum - learning to write music is a key component in understanding and reading music. As we learn and grow, we start by listening, then we learn to speak, then read, then write! Music has the same sequencing for learning, and these writing supplies will keep our notes and pencils sharp as our brains!
