This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is located in the heart of South Memphis. The majority of our students are African American and Hispanic students that often come from low socio-economic communities. Knowing the community we serve, we ensure that all students receive free lunch every day. My third graders are brave, creative, and loving individuals.
My students work hard each and every day to transcend above their home life and meet the high expectations that are set for them in the classroom.
I want to create a solid writing foundation for my students so they can succeed in writing for years to come.
My Project
The resources for our writing center will help students feel joy when they are writing. The plethora of colors and selections will help to add a positive perspective to writing.
Students will get to see writing as a fun and engaging way to get their voice heard.
The materials will help students paint a picture with their words. The goal for this project is to help students in the prewriting, rough draft, revising, and editing stages by using certain colors to enhance their writing skills. Students will know when to add commas, verbs, and adjectives to bring their writing to life based on the color of the feedback.
