My students need writing supplies so they complete school work. On a daily basis, I provide sharpened pencils , pens and notebooks to students who come without.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are diverse and excited to learn. They are talkative, creative and filled with wonder about information that they are constantly immersed in. They have a deep interest in the world that they live in and are excited about reading opportunities. Located in the South Bronx, there is a 100 percent poverty rate, some live in shelters and many of them live in unstable homes. Yet they are positive, hard-working and the school is a safe haven for them where they can get meals and be taken care of. Our school sets high standards and wants to ensure that all students have the opportunity to go to college and be able to achieve academic success. I know if they believe it, they can achieve it!
My Project
On a daily basis, most of my students do not have writing supplies to complete classwork. My students live in the poorest section of the Bronx and many of my students do not live with their parents. Some are in homeless shelters and the last thing I would want is for them to be worried about not having basic writing supplies such as pencils, pens, and markers. Your donation goes a long way to support our amazing and talented students who urgently need to learn. I keep a box of shared supplies and on most days, sometimes I have students keep them so they have these to use to complete homework.
