Mrs. Laird from Merrillville IN is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a reading and writing learning station that allows them to practice and self-check skills like sequencing, descriptive words, and reading for details.

Teacher, Teacher, Teacher!!! During my day I teach 21 second graders how to read or read better. In my opinion students learn better when working in small groups directly with the teacher. If I have six students working with me what are the other 15 doing?
I am a 3rd year teacher with limited resources and a community of high need learners. I create many things for the students to work on during their station time, but it is difficult and very time consuming to create activities that are engaging, meaningful and most importantly SELF CHECKING! Students need time to practice skills, but it will do them no good to practice incorrectly.
The kit that I am requesting contains 8 pre-made, hands-on stations for students to use and are also self-checking. Students will work together to sequence, read for detail, and identify types of words. Exposure to more words and practice will assist them to becoming better readers and writers.
Having engaging stations for students to work at allows me to have meaningful, uninterrupted instruction for small groups - reaching more students at their own personal level.
