Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 20 of the sweetest little students on the planet. My students come from a low socio-economic background. I have a very diverse group of students. I have 5 English Language Learners and 5 students who had never been in a school environment before this past August. I have 5 students who have been retained because they needed another chance to build foundational skills they weren't ready for last year. I have five students that are working right along and progressing well. So many individual needs to reach and so many different skills to differentiate. I try to make center rotations fun and engaging for each of the kinder kiddos in my room. It can be a challenging task at times but I’m up for it.
My Project
Kindergarten students need many opportunities to practice their writing skills. The Magic writing boards would be an efficient resource to have because students could write all day without wasting paper. They could take their boards to all their academic centers throughout the day.
The Writing Practice Makes Perfect project is a way to provide the students the practice they need daily in an Earth-Friendly way.
The students will use the boards to do morning work, sight words, sentence writing, math facts, Kagan structures, and Thinking Maps. The possible uses for these boards in a kindergarten classroom are endless and extraordinary!
