This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
GE is one of Norfolk’s Title I schools, with a Pre-K through Grade 5 population of 570. I am proud to be a special educator, and I teach 13 amazing students who receive special education services in an inclusive classroom of Grade 4. With the available resources we have, the students really make an effort to improve their grades in all subjects. These students receive specially designed instruction from me on a daily basis in math, reading, writing, social skills and work habits.
My Project
My students and their parents are very special to me. Because of their shortcomings, their struggle every day is completing all the components of the writing process. It is difficult for them to gather their thoughts on their own. When they think aloud, or I use probing questions it helps them to be better writers. These resources will help me to help them. The fact that the Giant magnetic lined page looks like their real page puts the icing on the cake for my babies. I will be able to model how their rough draft and final draft of their writing sample should look like mirroring what their actual page looks like. I will get to show them the skill of paragraph writing.
More so, we are always in need of dry erase markers.
I love to use color because it makes everything look bright and legible for my special needs students.
The Crayola colored pencils are always needed because my students enjoy adding color to everything they do such as graphs, paragraph writing, etc.
