My students need composition notebooks to keep a record of our mini-lessons, examples, and class work. Students will be able to look back at class examples as a model for their own work.
Welcome to my third grade classroom...a fun place to learn! My twenty-six students are amazing and wonderful to teach. The class is high energy with lots of talents and abilities. Some are in competitive cheer teams while others are interested in farming and pigs. Many of them have a love of reading, yet some struggle finding the treasure hidden within the pages of books.
During center work, they enjoy working with one another and playing games and learning activities.
Learning from one another and supporting their answers with evidence has been fun to observe! My third graders are so patient and helpful to others who may not understand what to do.
Considering many students' backgrounds and families, this group of students is special. Many families are very supportive. Other families are surviving! Working to provide their children with food on the table is their major concern. Some of the students go to the Latch Key program after school until their parents get off of work. Our school provides an after-school program to help students who are struggling.
We have the *privilege* of having and believing in a good education...and helping these kiddos get there!
My Project
Students need to have composition notebooks for writing, reading, and spelling lessons! Notebooks allow students to keep track of and monitor their learning.
The notebooks are interactive in that the students help develop the ideas and examples to write in the notebooks.
The mini-lesson statements will be glued in for every lesson. Students will also create foldable papers to organize their thoughts and work.
By creating these interactive notebooks, students are actively engaged and can monitor their own learning. During Parent Teacher Conferences, the student and I can share the topics and skills that have been practiced and learned; and share his/her struggles and challenges.
Having these interactive notebooks will lead to greater writing and reading literacy!
