Writing on the Wall - Teaching Math in Virtual World
Help me give my students the gift of digital learning. It is difficult to teach math in a virtual meeting room. The XP-Pen tablets will allow my teachers to teach math using a whiteboard screen on the computer.
I am the Instructional Technology Specialist at a K-5 elementary school in Virginia. Our student population is currently 640. We are a neighborhood school with a student population from diverse social-economic groups. At least 41% of our students receive free and reduced price lunches. Many of our students have military connections and we also have several families where at least one parent works with the NATO headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia. My school also includes a Spanish Immersion Program for grades 1-5. There are two Spanish Immersion classrooms on each grade level.
Our school is often overlooked for funding because we aren't in the neediest part of the city, yet we still struggle to provide materials for our students because of our limited budget.
We have a caring and motivated faculty and staff, who always put our students first. As the Technology Specialist, for my building, I have often dipped into my own pocket to purchase technology equipment for my students to use because the school budget just doesn't cover technology. I want my students to have the technology that they need to learn and succeed in the 21st century.
My Project
We are now teaching our students from home. This will continue through the end of this school year. My teachers do not have the tools to teach math in a virtual classroom.
My teachers need computer tablets so that they have the ability to write and demonstrate math skills while teaching from home.
I work with some awesome math teachers who are finding it challenging to teach math in a virtual classroom. It is not easy to demonstrate and teach math using a computer mouse. The XP-Pen tablets connect to a computer and will give my teachers the ability to write and draw on a whiteboard that is visual to all the students in the virtual classroom. They will be able to teach and our students will continue to learn and master mathematical strategies and skills. This is a trying time for our teachers and students. Please help me ease the burden and stress by providing XP-Pen tablets for all the math teachers at my school.
