My students need a Chromebook lab for researching and writing in the classroom. The writing lab will be beneficial for my students when they are working on research and writing projects.
I teach 27 amazing, outgoing, and inquisitive fifth graders who love writing and experiencing new opportunities in the classroom. My fun-loving, creative students have to share one computer lab with three other fifth grade classes and four sixth grade classes during the school day. Needless to say, my students have limited time to use technology to write, research, and create projects that meet the rigorous standards demanded of them in today's educational environment. Over half of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch, which means many do not own or have access to computers outside of school. I work to engage my students in various writing projects that expose them to the world around them, as well as educate them about the world outside our small community.
A Chromebook lab in my classroom would greatly benefit my students by giving them technology at their fingertips at any given time.
Chromebooks in the classroom would allow my students to delve deeper into learning about the world that they have yet to experience. In a technology driven society, my creative fifth graders would benefit from a one-to-one Chromebook lab.
My Project
The Chromebooks that I am requesting funding for will be used in a classroom setting for building tomorrows writers and authors. The Chromebooks will become our classroom writing lab and will enable my students more independence during writing assignments. This Chromebook lab will be used for research and writing in the Language Arts curriculum, but the Chromebooks will also be used in other subject areas for writing assignments.
A small Chromebook research and writing lab in my classroom would benefit my students profoundly.
My students spend much of their time waiting for computers to type their final drafts for assignments due to the large number of fifth grade students and limited computers for use. By having a small writing lab with these Chromebooks, my students can type their papers as they finish and not have to wait days to complete the assignment. As a language arts teacher, I feel it is my obligation to provide my students with the materials they need to be successful. In today's world technology is extremely important, these Chromebooks will help my students become better writers and authors.
