This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my K/1 classroom my students struggle with writing.

For the majority of my students, English is not their first language, so writing is particularly challenging.

These students struggle daily with oral vocabulary development and sentence structure. As they begin writing, my students need daily writing practice to work on these skills.

My Project

These journals vary in difficulty so each student can work at the pace and skill level that works best for them. The journals start out with sentence frames and word banks for lots of support for struggling writers. As the journals progress, the difficulty increases, challenging them as they go through the year.

These journal are well made, will last through the year, and will be a great way to see the students' progress.

They also will be able to share their journals with classmates and bring them home to share with parents.
